"Here," said he," are the keys to the two great wardrobes, wherein I have my best furniture. These are to my silver and gold plate, which is not everyday in use. These open my strongboxes, which hold my money, both gold and silver; these my caskets of jewels. And this is the master key to all my apartments. But as for this little one here, it is the key to the closet at the end of the great hall on the ground floor. Open them all; go into each and every one of them, except that little closet, which I forbid you, and forbid it in such a manner that, if you happen to open it, you may expect my just anger and resentment."

[...] Curiosity, in spite of its appeal, often leads to deep regret. To the displeasure of many a maiden, its enjoyment is short lived. Once satisfied, it ceases to exist, and always costs dearly.

(Barbe Bleue, Charles Perrault)

The girl I drew here is not really a princess... But she's a character from a fairytale since she's the girl that Blue Beard married! ^_^;

Keys are a motif I used a lot here : on the dress, on the background and border and the girl is holding a key as well... Because actually, all this fairytale is about keys! >.<; Blue Beard gave her all the castle keys to open all the doors... Except one, and of course, out of curiosity she decided to open it even though her husband had forbiden her to do so... But why did he gave her the key if he did not want her to open the door??? That's wicked is not it? ^_~

Since she saw something she should not have seen... I decided to draw her poking one of her eyes out! The meaning of that is : a part of her is still faking to be innocent and trying to do as if she had not seen what she saw in the closet, but the other part of her, saw what was in the closet, and she cannot hide it because of the bloody key!!! ^o^
