"Knupper, knupper, Kneischen,
Wer knuppert an meinem Häuschen?"
Die Kinder antworteten:
"Der Wind, der Wind,
Das himmlische Kind".
("Hänsel und Gretel"der Brüder Grimm)
It had been a while I had not drawn an illustration for a fairytale I like, so here it is! This drawing features Hänsel and Gretel. At first, I wanted to draw something cute... but then I remembered that the story was not so cute after all (in fact, all the fairytales are horrible if you read them carefuly.) and my little brother and sister ended up looking a little scary... ^_^; I'm not totally satisfied with this drawing though... I still need more practice when it comes to draw boys... =___=; and feet and hands as well...
Well, as far as I am concerned, I think that Hänsel and Gretel are quite "scary", after all, Gretel, did not hesitate to push an old lady into a burning oven... O_o (ok, the lady was supposed to be a witch...) that remebered me about a story from "Ludwig Kakumei" (by Yuki Kaori), in the story of the "Little Red Ridding Hood", a character talks about the two young murderers "Hansel and Gretel", the two children who killed their own grandmother and burnt her house! O_o. The cuter they look, the more dangerous they are! (made me think about an episode from "Buffy the wampire slayer" as well... yeah, you know, Hansel and Gretel are in fact devils who seduce the adults try to make them judge and burn alive the witches -Willow and Buffy- who prosecuted them... ok, I confess, I really liked to watch "Buffy the Vampire slayer"... and so what?)

Fairytales are really morbid! Like in Cinderella where the girls cut off their hels to make the slipper fit and the birds peck out their eyes...or where the wolf swallows poor grandma whole...or in the real version of Snow White where the queen must dance in red-hot iron shoes until she fell down dead...
People back then were quite morbid, really. But I think this piece gives great fitting to the tone of the story...
i think the boy is really cute! and there are a million other manga artists that draw boys looking more like girls than you make yours look! (believe me... you can only tell by looking in... certain areas) LOL
yeah, fairy tales are really horrible, aren't they? and them nursery rhymes, too...
but i love the pattern you put on their clothing - the plaid turned out well. (i love brown and black plaid like that - it's beautiful)
Ok you could work on drawing boys. But if I remeber right they were rather young kids so if he looks kinda chicky it's ok. I mean alot of kids have no gener specific characteristicts that can be seen in regular transit.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
